For either collection method, place eligible items on your property at the street edge or at a City-designated collection point, after 7 p.m. the evening before collection or before 7 a.m. that morning. For paid removal, describe the work from the room to the truck. Say whether the crew must carry a sofa downstairs, dismantle furniture or use an elevator. Ask whether the crew will remove the entire agreed pile and sweep the loading area. Confirm the arrival window and any building access arrangements before booking.

Get a quote for the complete cleanout

Send photos of the whole pile, close-ups of unusual items and pictures of the route out. Include stairs, narrow doorways, the distance to parking and any elevator reservation. Identify furniture, electronics, appliances, renovation debris and household garbage as separate groups so the hauler can confirm each one.

Ask how the provider calculates the price: by item, truck space, weight or time. Request the total in Canadian dollars, including applicable taxes, loading labour, travel and disposal charges. If the quote depends on truck space, ask for the usable truck capacity and how the crew will measure your load. Agree on how the provider will approve any price change before loading starts.

Ask for proof of liability insurance and the planned destination for each material group. If the provider proposes using Laval’s municipal facilities, confirm eligibility and the vehicle arrangement. The City requires a resident to accompany a business doing work or renovations at that resident’s home and present identification and proof of address. Laval accepts household hazardous waste at Vimont; it accepts landscaping residues such as soil and sand only at the Fabreville materials reception site. Keep ordinary household garbage out of a planned ecocentre load. Laval collects only the contents of the black bin and tells residents to wait for the next garbage collection for surplus waste.
